For owner-operators & small crews

You can't answer
the phone from
inside somebody's
crawlspace

Tinsley picks up when you can't. It figures out what the caller needs, books it on your schedule, texts them a confirmation, and sends you a two-line summary. You keep working.

In build. We're setting up the first 50 contractors by hand.

Call log · Tue 12 · Plumber, one truck

    Sound familiar

    The phone rings at
    the worst moment

Nobody misses calls on purpose. You miss them because you're under a sink, on a ladder, or halfway through tearing out a customer's kitchen floor.

    The job goes elsewhere

“They called, I couldn't get to it, and by the time I called back they'd booked somebody else.”

    • Phone's in the truck, you're in the attic
    • Hands covered in flux or thinset
    • Most people won't leave a voicemail — they just call the next guy

    You sound rushed

“I answered out of breath on a loud job site and couldn't write the details down right.”

    • First impression made mid-job
    • A receptionist doesn't pencil out on one truck
    • Details scribbled on a scrap of drywall

    Evenings go to paperwork

“I get home at six and spend until eight on texts, bids and chasing money.”

    • Four texts back and forth to nail down one window
    • Bids that never got followed up
    • Invoices you keep meaning to chase

    Your numbers, not ours

    What a missed call
    actually costs you

We're not going to quote you an industry average. Put your own numbers in and see what last year looked like.

Check your phone. Count the ones with no voicemail.

Be honest — a lot of them are tire-kickers and wrong numbers.

    How a call actually goes

    It's a phone call,
    not a phone tree

No “press 1 for.” It talks, it listens, it asks what you'd ask. Here's an example call start to finish.

    Tinsley

“Good afternoon, Hartley Plumbing and Drain — this is Tinsley, the automated assistant, and this call is recorded. How can I help?”

Answers on the second ring with your business name, identifies itself as AI, and gives the recording notice. That opener is what keeps you clear of the all-party consent states and the state bot-disclosure laws.

    Caller

“Hey — my water heater's making a racket and there's no hot water.”

Understands trade language. It isn't thrown by “tankless,” “T&P valve” or “it just started banging.”

    Tinsley

“Sorry to hear it. Is there any water on the floor, or just the noise and no hot water?”

Triage. Active leak, gas smell, no heat in a freeze, no AC in a heat advisory — those get treated as emergencies.

    Caller

“No leak. Just no hot water.”

Not an emergency, so it books instead of interrupting you.

    Tinsley

“I can get Dave out tomorrow morning between eight and ten, or Thursday afternoon. Which works?”

Reads your live schedule and only offers windows that fit your hours and where you're already routed that day.

    Caller

    “Tomorrow morning works.”

Takes the address, ZIP, cell number and gate or dog details.

    Tinsley

“You're booked. I'll text a confirmation now, and again when Dave's on his way.”

Customer gets a text right away, plus a reminder the night before.

→ You get one message: “Tue 2:06p — Karen Whitfield, 75024. Gas water heater, banging + no hot water, no leak. Booked Wed 8–10a.” That's it. Nothing to type up.

    Where we're up to

    No reviews here yet.
    That's the point.

We haven't launched. There are no five-star badges on this page because we haven't earned any, and you've seen enough trade sites with made-up ones.

What we're doing now is talking to trades about how their phone actually works day to day, and building the thing around that. If you're up for a fifteen-minute call, you'll shape it — and you'll get it first, at the founding price.

    Fair questions

    What people
    ask us

Will my customers know it's not a person?

Yes — it says so. It opens by naming your business, introducing itself as Tinsley, the automated assistant and telling the caller the line is recorded. That isn't just good manners: California, Texas and a growing list of other states have bot-disclosure rules, and a dozen states require every party to consent before a call is recorded. Disclosing up front on every call keeps you clear of all of them.

What happens with a real emergency?

It listens for the things that matter — active leaks, gas, no heat in a freeze, no AC in a heat advisory, no power — and calls you right away instead of booking it. If you can't take it, you get a text with the address and the problem so you can decide. You're always the one who chooses whether to roll out.

Do I have to change my number?

No. You keep your number and set conditional forwarding so calls come to us only when you don't pick up or you're already on a call. We'll walk you through the codes for your carrier. If you'd rather have a separate local number, you can have one of those instead.

Does it handle my customers' accents?

It handles US regional accents and Spanish-speaking callers. Where it struggles is very noisy lines and people talking over each other — in those cases it takes a name and number and flags the call rather than guessing.

    How long does setup take?

About ten minutes with us on the phone. We connect your calendar, set your hours and your pricing, then call your number together so you hear how it sounds before anything goes live.

I already use ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber. Does that matter?

No. Calendar sync works with Google and Outlook, which covers most field service platforms. Tell us what you run when you sign up — the first integrations we build will be the ones early members are actually on.

What happens to my customers' data?

Calls are recorded and transcribed so the assistant can work, and every caller is told that at the start of the call. Recordings and customer records are held on US servers, encrypted, and never sold or shared. You set the retention window, you can export or delete everything at any time, and we'll send you a data processing agreement before you go live.

When can I actually get it?

We're onboarding the first group by hand, a few at a time, so we can sit with each person and get it right. Leave your number and we'll call to talk through your setup and tell you honestly where you are in line.
